Month of the Sea
In May, during the celebration of the Month of the Sea, was performed the First National Painting Competition Arts School called "The Port, where it joins the Earth and the Sea". Participating students of the Colleges of La Greda and Ventanas, with about 110 participants, rewarding yourself four categories in each of the disciplines mentioned.
Radio Program "The Port Window"
Developing a community radio program, which provides information on port activities, interviews with community leaders and professionals of interest. This has generated a channel of communication with the community, highly valued in the same.
Relations with the Fisherfolk Organizations
In 2012 they started a program working with fishermen in the area. Thirty-five of them, from both the Union and the Fishermen's Cooperative, have worked at the port in two periods in the year, performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks. This activity is valued as a tangible contribution to the development of our neighboring communities.
Was maintained activity called Open Port, which is to receive one day a week to different social organizations in the harbor. At these visits is first performed a presentation of port activities and commitments Puerto Ventanas within the Clean Production Agreement (APL), and finally a visit to the port facilities. In 2012 visited the port about 380 people.
Working with the Community
During 2012 continues the coordinated and close to the community in various areas of social need and interest:
- Collaboration, support and contributions to activities undertaken by various local organizations, such as national holidays celebration, meetings and other regional folk.
- Construction of restrooms, and storage in chapel "La Cruz de Mayo", located in the town of Los Maitenes.
- Annual program of Ventanas beach cleaning and empowerment for the summer.
- Donate to the La Greda school Parent Center and for the educational complex "Sargento Aldea", during the celebration of Children's Day.
Puerto Ventanas is one of the pioneers in working with the dual education system, students practice getting third and fourth means specialties Administration, Electricity and Electronics.
These students attend two days a week at Company facilities in the harbor to deepen the knowledge acquired in theory in their respective educational institutions. The support provided by the Company includes an economic contribution and collation mobilization and participation in student graduation ceremony.
Las Rosas FoundationFrom November 2004 to date, Puerto Ventanas sponsoring the Las Rosas Foundation home Nº37 "Our Lady of the Rosary", which hosts about 50 seniors. In addition to material resources, assistance also means regular visits by staff of the Company, which include activities such as songs, games and group dynamics.
Mobilization Scholarships for Puchuncaví Higher Education Students
Under an agreement signed by the companies, Aes Gener, Catamutun, Codelco Ventanas, administered through ASIVA, developed the project "Mobilization Scholarships for Puchuncaví Higher Education Students" for young people living in the towns of Los maitenes, La Greda, Campiche, Las Ventanas, The Chocota and Horcón.
This benefit is intended for 250 students displaying the highest degree of social vulnerability. The delivery of this benefit is part of a coordinated effort of the four companies, from Clean Production Agreement (APL). The agreement runs for five years and the profit of 2012 was fully implemented, to be monitored and beneficiaries through a sample of 10% of the total benefit.
Activities with Puchuncaví-Quintero Development Corporation
Since December 2006, Puerto Ventanas with Endesa, Codelco, Egesa, AES Gener, Marbella and Oxiquim form Puchuncaví-Quintero Development Corporation, a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at promoting local sustainable development, promoting and enhancing the generation of projects from the community.
