1966Along with the construction of Unit 1 of the Thermoelectric Ventanas, Chilgener (now AES Gener S.A.) build the Ventanas Dock, which begins this year its attention to coal unloading ships.
1989Studies are initiated for a dock extension project, in order to have capacity to serve larger ships, turning the original idea into a multipurpose wharf project.
1991On April 25, Puerto Ventanas S.A. is created as an independent company, a subsidiary of Gener S.A. to increase the area of operations of the former Ventanas dock, whereby Gener S.A. dock facilities where contributed as assets.
1993The unloading of coal for the Thermoelectric Ventanas, takes place until July of this year, on the north side of the old wharf. Download performance to date is about 300 ton/hour or 7,200 tons/day.
1994After a process of acquisition, Puerto Ventanas S.A. becomes the owner of all land and naval facilities of the Port. Also this year, the pier is extended and amplified, incorporating sites Nº3 and Nº5.
1995It builds a clean bulk 45,000 tonnes warehouse, connected to site Nº 5, through an automated system that achieves belt yields 18,000 ton /day.
1996Companies Melon begin building a clinker storage dome connected to site Nº5 using a tubular belt. The dome is opened the following year.
1997Completes construction of 4,000 tons capacity.
1999They begin operations discharging vessels for Petróleos, Asfaltos y Combustibles S.A. (PACSA) terminal. This year, for strategic purposes 115 acres of land adjacent to the port were purchased.
2000A contract is signed with the former Compañía Minera Disputada de Las Condes (now Anglo American), which includes the creation, by Puerto Ventanas S.A., a warehouse for the storage of copper concentrate, which was inaugurated in January 2001. On May 2 acquired fixed assets of Petróleos, Asfaltos y Combustibles S.A. and a share of 99.99% of the company Pacsa Agencia Naves S.A.
2001In July, AES Gener S.A. sold its shares of the company. The shares were purchased by S.K. Inversiones Portuarias S.A. and other 11 companies who signed a shareholders agreement. In October a contract was signed with the Swiss company Glencore International S.A. for exploitation and bunkering business execution for itself, either through the fuel terminal or other joint projects.
2002Asphalt Company Cono Sur S.A. exercises its option to purchase the Asphalt section from the Asphalt and Fuels Terminal, after which Asfaltos Cono Sur S.A. manages the terminal while Puerto Ventanas S.A. is responsible for the discharge and transfer from the ship to the asphalts tanks.
2003In February the purchase of of 50.5% of the shares Serie A of Ferrocarril del Pacífico S.A. (Fepasa) is made, representing 47% of the property. In the following months, increasing its stake to 51.82%.
2004On July 27, dissolve the shareholders' agreement, freeing members of joint action obligations. SK Inversiones Portuarias S.A. holds an ownership interest of 42.96%.
2005On 4 October, the group Sigdo Koppers, Puerto Ventanas S.A. controller, was inscribed on the Santiago Stock Exchange. Sigdo Koppers S.A. acquires 5.18% stock in Puerto Ventanas S.A., and SK Inversiones Portuarias increases its stocks to 43.03%.
2006On March 27, Sigdo Koppers S.A. increased its stocks in Puerto Ventanas S.A. to 6.98%, increasing the joint participation of Sigdo Koppers S.A. and SK Inversiones Portuarias S.A. from 48.21% to 50.01%.
2008In September gathering and storage yard for petroleum coke opens for ENAP Refinerias S.A. During the period, the Company works in the implementation of SAP at a corporate level and certifies its Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2000.
2009Puerto Ventanas start engineering studies for the construction of a new warehouse for Anglo American, equipped with the latest environmental technologies to store 60,000 tons of copper concentrate. In addition, during the period running successfully enter financial accounting modules (FI-CO) SAP ERP, allowing improve both the quality and speed of access to critical business information.
2010In early 2010 start Gener Unit 3 (Nueva Ventanas) operations. Also signed a contract for 25 years with Anglo American to store and ship copper concentrate from the mine expansion Los Bronces. The agreement includes the construction of a warehouse to collect 60,000 tons, which will feature the latest environmental technologies. It is estimated that this project will be completed in 2011.
2011In 2011 the fuel terminal and minitankers were sold for 29.45 million dollars. Furthermore, start the construction of a new warehouse to store Anglo American customer copper concentrate.
2012After construction was completed, began the Anglo American copper concentrate warehouse operation, which led to a historic rise in cargo handling. In addition, negotiated a credit up with BancoEstado for MUS $ 40, which was performed with the restructuring of liabilities of the Company and allocated resources for future investments in 2013. It also opens the Open Port Community Center, where the Ventanas community is a place where community and supportive activities are realized, among others.
