In 2017, the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS) gave Puerto Ventanas the Maritime Award of the Americas for “Green Port Operations in Port and/or Terminals,” being the first port operator in Chile to receive this distinction.
It is the fourth edition of this international award, recognizing the best practices in private or public ports, terminals, and maritime companies in any of the 35 CIP/OAS member states, their contribution to environmentally sustainable port operations, and the implementation of green activities to promote the protection of the maritime environment.
Among the main actions undertaken by Puerto Ventanas that led to this award is its investment master plan to improve its facilities and infrastructure, incorporating new technologies for sustainable operations, as well as the development of an energy efficiency plan and an integrated management model.
