The Minister of Energy, Andrés Rebolledo, presented the General Manager of Puerto Ventanas, Jorge Oyarce, with the Gold Seal award, given by their Energy Efficiency Agency. This is a recognition for the company’s management practices in different areas, and to the measures, it has implemented to reduce the impact of energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
“We are very proud of this recognition. Two years ago, we also received it; these facts show the effort we are constantly making in terms of energy efficiency. This is because the most important input of our operations is electricity, and because we are a mechanized port and a large part of the systems work on electric engines”, commented Jorge Oyarce.
“To deliver this award in its highest category to Puerto Ventanas highlights a style of management that has continued for years in this field. An automated operation, demands a significant energy consumption; for this reason, efficient energy spending creates a positive impact for Chile, the communities and the company, because it lowers costs and aligns with the country’s vision of building much more sustainable production models,” said Energy Minister Andres Rebolledo.
It is important to note that the Gold Seal of Energy Efficiency is the highest award in the area, and requires companies to have at least two energy efficiency measures implemented an energy management system already integrated into the system, and an ISO 50.001 certification in place.
